David Heller is vice president of Risk Policy at Southern California Edison, one of the nation’s largest electric utilities, and its parent company, Edison International. He leads Edison’s efforts following the passage of Senate Bill 254 to further mitigate wildfire risk and equitably allocate costs, helping protect both communities and the company’s financial stability.

Prior to this appointment, Heller served as vice president of Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance as well as general auditor. In that primary capacity, he was responsible for the company’s risk management, public safety and insurance programs, from strategic direction to oversight and monitoring. He was also responsible for oversight of the company’s internal audits department and the execution of its internal audit function. Earlier, he served as chief ethics and compliance officer. Before joining Edison International, he served as director of ethics and business conduct at The Boeing Company, where he was responsible for developing strategic direction for international ethics and compliance programs. He also managed corporate investigations worldwide for Boeing.

Previously, Heller served as vice president of risk management and chief compliance officer for Qwest Communications and its predecessor, US West. He has also advised Mobil Oil on safety and security issues.

He is a member of the Loss Control Task Force of Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Service Ltd. (AEGIS).

Heller earned a bachelor’s degree in fire protection and safety engineering technology from Oklahoma State University, a master’s degree in environmental policy and management from the University of Denver and a JD from the University of Denver College of Law.
