Orville O. Cocking is senior vice president, Transmission & Distribution (T&D) at Southern California Edison, one of the nation’s largest electric utilities. He is responsible for the operation, maintenance and modernization of SCE’s electrical grid that covers a 50,000-square mile service area.

Previously, Cocking was senior vice president of Electric Operations at NIPSCO, an electric and gas utility based in Indiana. In this role, he provided support and oversight of all electric functions — including generation, transmission, distribution, asset risk management and engineering — serving 500,000 customers, while leading strategies to improve safety, reliability and contract planning. He also served as the senior vice president, Gas Operations for NIPSCO.

Cocking has held numerous positions with increasing responsibility for Consolidated Edison Company of New York and Orange & Rockland Utilities. His experience includes leading high hazard teams to improve safety outcomes, partnering with labor organizations, driving performance in complex regulatory environments and managing change.

He serves as a Board Member for the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC) and has served in leadership roles for community organizations including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana, Habitat for Humanity of Rockland County and the YMCA of Greater New York.

He has a bachelor’s in civil engineering from Temple University, an MBA from Fordham University and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
